Dr. Nadia Mawji, ND has obtained 4 years of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture focused training as part of her naturopathic medicine degree. She is board-certified in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE) and is also additionally registered to perform Acupuncture in Alberta.
Research has shown that acupuncture sessions are most effective with a duration of 30-40 minutes. 6-10 sessions are typically required to notice improvements. As each person is different, some might experience improvements sooner and others, later and some, not at all. TCM is considered a systematic, yet energetic therapy and due to the subjective nature of the therapy, results might vary from person to person.
Acupuncture can only be a part of your naturopathic plan if it is indicated and specifically recommended for you. This would be discussed in your naturopathic appointment with Dr. Nadia Mawji, ND.
*Acupressure might be offered as an alternative for those who have not tolerated acupuncture (needles) well in the past.
